Minority Business Equipment Grant Q&A

In the spirit of Giving Tuesday, here’s a Q&A about our latest grant opportunity:

Q. Who can apply?

A.  Any small business owners who are up to date on sales and income taxes and meet all federal, state and local business regulations. Applicants must be a client of the Illinois Small Business Development Center at WIU QC and have had at least one appointment.

Q. Why do I need to be a client of the IL SBDC?

A. We want you to get familiar with the free services available to help your business succeed. 

Q. How do I become a client of the IL SBDC? 

A. Start by filling out a contact us form on their website: https://wiusbdc.org/contact-us/ We will accept your application if you have started this process of becoming a client. 

Q. How much can I apply for?

A. Up to $1,000.

Q. What can the money be used for? 

A. Any purchases or repairs of equipment or personal protective equipment for your business. It could be used to help upgrade your business for the ongoing pandemic. Ideas include: adding a phoneline, developing a website, paying for professional photography, etc. 

Q. Can I fill out the application online?

Q. Where can I pick up a paper application?

A. At any participating IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union branch (Rock Island, Moline-Ave. of the Cities, Moline-Southpark Mall, East Moline and Silvis). 

Q. When is the deadline?

A. December 15 at 11:59 p.m.

Q. I saw you have another grant opportunity for Spanish-language accounting services. Can I apply for both grants?
